The primary objective for a leading pharmaceutical client at a major medical conference was to launch a new therapeutic indication for a key treatment, while reinforcing its strength across nine total patient indications. We know that the most impactful conversations are personal, therefore we mandated a fully rep-led experience. The challenge was to create a technology platform that would serve as a powerful storytelling tool for clients' rep based team.
The creative solution was a journey in two acts. First, the "digital consultation": a representative would engage a visitor with a touchscreen, asking guided questions to build a unique patient profile. As they answered, a 3D mountain on the screen would form, its nine peaks adjusting to reflect the patient's specific indications.
The second act was the "physical reveal": the visitor and rep would then turn their attention to a large-scale physical mountain sculpture, which would animate and transform, its topography and projected visuals perfectly mirroring the profile they had just built.
Responsible for the technical leadership to bring this ambitious concept to life. This involved weaving together a custom stack of hardware and software designed for a seamless, real-time experience: The touchscreen application, built in Vue, provided a fluid and intuitive interface for the consultation. This app communicated instantly with a central Node.js server via Socket.io. This backend served as the experience's brain, processing the incoming patient data and dispatching commands to the physical hardware.
It instructed a series of actuators to dynamically shape the sculpture's nine peaks, while a projection mapping system simultaneously bathed the mountain in corresponding data visualisations and narrative content, all rendered in real time. All lighting and movement were synchronised using DMX, the industry standard for theatrical control.
The result was a perfect synthesis of human interaction and technological wonder, creating a powerful educational journey that captured valuable lead data for the client's CRM.
